Abstract

Tijekom povijesti, države su koristile razne načine za ostvarivanje nacionalnih interesa i
očuvanje nacionalne sigurnosti. U ranijoj povijesti su se ti interesi uglavnom ostvarivali vojnim
sredstvima i metodama, međutim razvojem obavještajnih službi u kasnom 19. st. i početkom 20.
st., počele su se koristiti, drugačije, diskretnije metode za ostvarivanje nacionalnih interesa i
očuvanje nacionalne sigurnosti. Jedna od tih metoda su tajne akcije (covert actions), a
obavještajne službe Velike... More Britanije, uz američku CIA-u (Central Intelligence Agency) se mogu
smatrati začetnicima takvih akcija kao i prvih specijalnih postrojbi, poput britanskog SOE-a
(Special Operations Executive) o kojoj će biti riječi u radu. Rad obuhvaća povijesni razvoj
britanskog obavještajno-sigurnosnog sustava, njegove najveće uspjehe i neuspjehe te današnji
poznati ustroj obavještajno-sigurnosnog sustava Velike Britanije. Također će biti obrađeno
nekoliko tajnih akcija kroz koje ćemo vidjeti njihovu ulogu u postizanju britanskih nacionalnih

Abstract (english)

Throughout the history countries used many different ways of achiveing their national interests
and maintaining national security. Military power was used to achieve such interests at first, but
development of intelligence services in late 19th and early 20th century opened another ways for
making those interests real. One of the methods used are so called covert actions, and British
intelligence services were one of the first services who successfully conducted these kind of
operations.... More Great Britain also founded the first special forces unit, the SOE. This study contains
historical development of British intelligence and security services, their successes and failures,
current intelligence and security organisation in Great Britain. There will be also word about
covert actions themselfs, where will be seen what part do they play in accomplishing british
